Terinspirasi dari Arkansas goth-rock. Band Evanescence bersama Linkin Park berduet dengan debut pertamanya tahun 2003 "Fallen". Penyanyi dan Pianis Amy Lee dan gitaris Ben Moody membentuk band pada akhir'90s setelah pertemuan mereka di sebuah perkemahan ketika amy menyanyikan Meat Loaf's' I'd Do Anything for Love 'di bagian piano.

Personil Evanescence kemudian bergabung dengan Will Boyd pada bass, John LeCompt pada gitar, dan Rocky Gray pada gitar. Tahun 2003 mendapatkan kontrak soundtrack film Ben Affleck "Daredevil" yang menjadikan Group band melejit dengan hits "Bring Me to Life" dan " I Immortal" yang dirilis pada bulan Maret 2003.

Evanescence pertama mempromosikan hits kontroversi "Falen". Hits Falen mendapatkan penghargaan double-platinum, Top Ten di Amerika Serikat, dan sanggup bertahan 100 minggu di Billboard's Top 200; Evanescence juga berhasil meraih dua Grammys (Best New Artist dan Best Hard Rock Performance) pada tahun 2003. 

Selama tur Eropa, Ben Moody meninggalkan grup dengan alasan perbedaan kreatifitas dan segera digantikan gitaris Terry Balsamo. Terry dan Amy menjadi mitra menjadikan hardrock sebagai ciri khas Evanescence. Pada bulan November 2004 kembali mengeluarkan Album Anywhere Home tetapi hanya dipasarkan di paris. Setelah itu duka dialami grup musik ini pada musim gugur 2005 dimana gitaris Terry Balsamo terkena stroke. Dan akhirnya Boyd sebagai Bassis mengantikan posisi Gitar sehingga akhirnya muncul pada awal Oktober 2006 dengan single"Call Me When You're Sober,".
